Fisherman Sweaters

The garments of fishermen from the Channel and Aran Islands of Great Britain and Ireland have always been fascinating to knitters from all over the world. The similarities and differences of each area are interesting to study and wonderful to make. Students will learn about those differences and have an opportunity to make the fisherman garment of their choice by working a pattern from either culture. The use of classic yarns is desirable but not necessary. Students will provide all materials necessary for this project. A basic knowledge of knitting is required. AGE: 13 and up.

Intarsia knit
Color Knitting Techniques: Intarsia

What is Bohus? What is the difference between Norwegian color work and Fair Isle? And what is Intarsia? Come and find out. These classes will be held on the first Wednesday evening of four consecutive months. Necessary yarns will be provided to make a sample piece in class. Patterns for future projects using these techniques will also be provided. Bring markers & 16” circular knitting needles in size 6 for Bohus, Fair Isle, and Intarsia classes. Bring markers & 16” circular knitting needles in size 7 for the Norwegian class. Basic knitting skills are required. AGE: 13 and up. MATERIALS FEE: $5.00 paid to instructor for all yarns.

Weaving: Multi-Level

Beginners, continuing and advanced students learn together as each one concentrates on an individual project with the added opportunity of watching the progress of those at different levels. Beginners will learn basic techniques, design possibilities, and color study while weaving small items. Continuing and advanced students will delve into more challenging weave structures and techniques. AGE: 13 and up.
