Woven Harvest

A PRESENTATION OF HANDWOVEN TAPESTRIES CREATED BY THE TAPESTRY STUDY GROUP OF THE WEAVERS’ GUILD OF ROCHESTER, SEPTEMBER 1 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 27, 2017, THE GALLERY ROOM AT THE ANTHONY ROAD WINERY, PENN YAN, NY

“Tapestry” is a very old art form, involving creating an image within a woven cloth.  It is distinctive in that the cloth and the image are made simultaneously, beginning at one edge and moving to the opposite side.  It is created entirely by hand, using many techniques of shape-making with threads to create a desired image.

Fourteen artists have presented their work here.  The group meets regularly at the Weaving and Fiber Arts Center at the Piano Works Mall in East Rochester, and enjoys the mutual support of our weaving friends.

We thank you for your curiosity about this medium, and hope you enjoy the tapestries and the variety of images and styles that they present.
