Cassie's work

I first became interested in fiber arts at home. In middle school we had a small weaving unit with Jan Hewitt Towsley in art class, but it wasn’t until high school that my interest really developed when I tried my hand at paper-making, spinning, marbling, and more.

In college I majored in anthropology, where I did independent studies on kumihimo, backstrap weaving, and card-weaving. As a musician I wanted to link my creative outlets, so I starting making chainmaille for guitar-pick-jewlery and later for accents on card-woven necklaces and bracelets. Since then I have branched out into masks, inlays, and more.

I have been a family member of the Weavers’ Guild of Rochester off and on for over 15 years. After living out of state and abroad, I returned to Rochester and for the last few years I have been co-editor of the Guild’s newsletter The Yarn.
