WGR's Tapestry Study Group Exhibit

A PRESENTATION OF HANDWOVEN TAPESTRIES CREATED BY THE TAPESTRY STUDY GROUP OF THE WEAVERS’ GUILD OF ROCHESTER, UNTIL THE END OF OCTOBER, 2020, THE GALLERY ROOM AT THE ANTHONY ROAD WINERY, PENN YAN, NY

“Tapestry” is a very old art form, involving creating an image within a woven cloth.  It is distinctive in that the cloth and the image are made simultaneously, beginning at one edge and moving to the opposite side.  It is created entirely by hand, using many techniques of shape-making with threads to create a desired image.

These artists: Marianne Antczak,Tina Coppinger, Melita Gill, Sherrie Hertweck, Tom Jagger, Trish Jones, Peggy Kresovich, Mary Randall McMahon, Carole Plate, Mary Ann Proia, Dawn Robinson, and Barbara Snios have presented their work here.

We thank you for your curiosity about this medium, and hope you enjoy the tapestries and the variety of images and styles that they present.
